Stephen Joel

Born in December 24, 1973, Stephen, known by many as Steve, was raised on the beautiful island of Aneityum, one of the southern islands in TAFEA province of Vanuatu, where his father was working as a weather forecaster. His family later moved to the island of Malekula, in 1979, just prior to Vanuatu’s independence, where he now calls home. Steve recalls his mum telling him that when he was a baby, she would lullaby him to sleep by listening to music from a transmitter radio. His mom believed that this might have some influences in his life when he grows up. Steve is a self-taught singer today and helps many others know the art of music.

As a youngster, Steve moved to Port Vila in 1985 where he first joined a well-known male vocal group, The Reformers Singers and under the guidance of the leader, Jacob Tawali, his interest in singing began to blossom. He later joined the Monument Singers where he was introduced to Instrumental music. Towards the end of 1998, the Wiles Memorial Singers Music Ministry was formed and Steve was one of the founding members.

Steve is happily married to Delma, the eldest daughter of Pastor Daniel John and they are blessed with three beautiful daughters, Stephanie, Sharon and Shirley. He is forever indebted to God for blessing him with the talent of singing; and to his dearest family who love him and have stood by him all these years.
